Gujarat National Law University was established under the Act, 2003 by the goverment of Gujrat. It has a vast campus of 50 acres area. The universtiy campus is made like that it should focus on to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Objective and Vision of the university: The primary objective of the University is to promote legal and ethical values and foster the rule of law to evolve and impart comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education and the objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.

The number of seats available for Ph.D. programme will be notified by the University keeping in view the availability of teachers for guiding Ph.D. Scholars. However, the number of seats may be increased up to 25% for considering the applications of regular faculty members of the NLU i for Ph.D. admission, who are otherwise fulfilling the required eligibility criteria

Candidates who have qualified UGC NET/JRF, SLET, and M. Phil. are exempted from the taking the admission test. They will be asked to submit their Research Proposal for scrutiny along with other qualified candidates.
