D.Ed. stands for Diploma in Education. It is a Certificate level Education course. The course can be pursued by students who have passed 10+2 (any stream) from a recognized board. Diploma in Education course has been designed to improve the elementary level teacher workforce in India. D.Ed. course is similar to D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education), JBT, D.T.Ed. (Diploma in Teachers Education) and ETT (Elementary Teacher Training) courses. It can also be availed on a part-time basis in certain colleges of the country. Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) course is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). 

D.Ed. (Diploma In Education) Eligibility Criteria

Minimum qualification required is 10+2 passed (any stream) from a recognized board with at least 50% aggregate marks or its equivalent grade.

D.Ed. (Diploma In Education) Course Duration

As per the new norms of NCTE, the duration of Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) is two years.

D.Ed. 2nd Semester Syllabus

Microteaching : 7 Skills, 3 lessons Per Skill, Teaching of Subject I - 20 lessons, Teaching of Subject II - 20 Lessons, Criticism Lessons (Two - One in each methods of teaching subject), Final lesson in Methods of Teaching Major Subject, Work Experience : (Anyone Craft), Working with Community & Social Service, and Five Psychology Experiments.

D.Ed. Career Prospects and Job Scope

After completing D.Ed. course, candidates can work as elementary level teachers at educational institutes. They can find work at institutes imparting elementary level education, like –
